On the 14th of May 2009, 2 teams from NYP Food Science were selected to participate at the SIFST 3rd student symposium at NUS. Teams selected from SP, TP and NYP had to present the science behind their food product. One of the group representing NYP was the just-graduated seniors presenting their FYP project of “Development of Cook-Chilled Food” while the other group was presenting their Project 3 product “Smoking Hot and Zesty Salmon”.
Competition was tough and every group did their best to give their utmost performance. Of course, you can’t stop the jitterbugs from hitting and it was evident from the nervous look on everyone’s faces. And finally it was our turn to present!

Look at their formal dressing and serious looks!
Overall everyone felt that it was a fun and interesting experience! All of us learnt quite a bit from the presented products by the other groups as well and gained more knowledge in the process. After the presentation, it was lunch of course! Everyone dined and celebrated the end of the grueling competition.
The next day the results were announced and Hooray! One of the teams got 2nd!
It was a pleasant surprise for everyone and definitely a motivation to work harder in future. The group that got runner up was the presentation on “Smoking Hot and Zesty Salmon”. Well congrats to all that participated on a job well done!
